Fitzhugh Lee, grandson of Henry "Light-Horse Harry" and nephew of Robert E. Lee was Major General of the Confederate Army. After the war, he wrote about and taught the history of the South during the Civil War and wrote a biography of Robert E. Lee. In 1885-1889, he served as governor of Virginia. Established in June 1898 near Jacksonville, Florida, Camp Cuba Libre served as the assembly point of Major General Fitzhugh Lee's Seventh Army Corps.
